Xalapa: the celestial kingdom of veracruz 8./3/2009
Hola familiia y amigos.
Well this is going to be a great letter for all. So this week was great. Being zone leader is a bit stressful though.
This place is freezing. I’m dieing of coldness. But some elders gave mi sweaters and stuff so i’m doing alright and a convert form Agua Dulce gave mi a blanket. So i’m doing good. We shower out of a bucket cause our shower heater broke. But i like it out of a bucket better. There is a mc donalds, burger king, dairy queen, subway. ………and costco. I was freaking out when i heard this stuff was here. We take busses EVERYWHERE cause i area is huge. Its the closets i will get to the states. Huahahahaha. Love its.
Let mi start out with one of my first experiences as zone leader. So it was Tuesday night at 3 in the morning. My first night in xalapa and we get a call from 2 of the elders in a area called Olivo. And i thought it said a girls name Olivia. So i was like Elder Page, who is Olivia and why is she calling at 3 in the morning. But he was like its the Elders. So we answered and turns out there house got flooded up to there waists and EVERYTHING got wet. So we had to rush over there and help them out. It was soooooo early and sooooooooooooooooooooo cold. I was dieing of coldness(right at this moment a member called us and told us she has someone who wants to be baptized, blessings) sorry back to the story. So we went and helped them clean out and take water out and all there stuff got wet. There beds were floating and all. So at 5am we went back to the house and those 2 elders slept there. And they have been for a couple nights and now they have found a new house. So it was an interesting experience.
So……Elder Holman is in my zone. This Friday as a matter of fact i’m going on splits with him for 48 hours to his area to work with him. SWEEEETTTTTNESSSS to the max. I will be living with him for almost 2 days. Cool huh. And today we spent the whole Preparation day together. We went to Dairy Queen and allllll. Cool huh. Its soooooo weird that he is here. He is so the man though. And the whole mission knows that him and katelin were dating before the mission. Everyone, Even the Presidente of the mission calls him my Brother-in-law. And All the elders. I had a zone leader mtg in Veracruz this past Friday and president made mi tell all the elders about Elder Holman and katelin. Hahahaha. Funny huh. Good times in the mission. But we are just having a blast.
So i we baptized a guy maned Martin this week. He is great. And This week we have a family of 3 and a kid named ricardo. Here the members help a lot. Its awesome. Last Friday we had a council for the zone leaders in the mission. We had to go to Veracruz and we were in a meeting with just the zone leaders and the president from 10am-5pm. Pure doctrine of the church and how to make our zones better. Crazy huh. It was amazing and the Spirit taught mi a lot in those little hours.
Well i want to share an experience i had about seeing the fruits of the labor. So in Agua Dulce, my first area, i got the privilige to baptize a lady named maty. She is part of the family that you sent the box to mom and dad. Well her parents are really catholic. But they always helped mi out there and were just my family there. They cried when i left and i love them but it killed that they were not members. They would participate in family nights and all. Well just last week i got to call the elders in that area to see how all is going and he told mi that they got baptized, the mom and dad. When i heard those news i teared up and couldn’t believe how the Lord works miracles. And also the parents of a little girl i got to baptize, her parents got baptized. I cant even believe how the Lord is being sooooo mindful of these people. Mom and dad. I know that you helped in that conversion to. I can never repay my Father in Heaven for these blessings and miracles He is letting mi see and be a part of. That family means everything to mi and i know that they will be able to return back to our Father in Heaven.
The mission rocks and is the best thing i have EVER done and would not trade it for the world. Xalapa is the Celestial Kingdom , hahahahaha. Well thanks for everything. Love you all
