11/23/2009 – Miracles left and right

Posted by Minetto Family on Nov 24, 2009 in Uncategorized

Hola fmailia y amigos

Man i just got done reading that letter and about dads ears plugged and just about died laughing……man that would be sooooo fun to mess with him. Mi mel and katelin would have sooooooo much fun with that. Dads probably soooo thankful that we are not there. hahahaha. Well well well. I will beat matt at whichever game…..even wrestling….hey i have been doing exercise in the mission. hahahaha.-

Well this week has been SOOOOOOOOOOO crazy. just sooooo many things going on. Right now im kinda dying from a cold…..on tues it started with sore throat then to the body ache and fever and now with a crazy cough and stuffy nose. And the funny thing about mexico is that when someone is sick EVERYONE tries to cure you…..its cause they love helping. But i decided to call sis hansen last night and she gave mi some medicine to take…..i just need to get some pesos to buy them. hahahahaha. But all is well. the work goes on.

Lots of work. My comp and i are working with the stake choir and organizing the work. Greater Then Us All. My comp and i have to do ALOT and i have never done this kind of stuff. Like organize comittees and budgets and hire people. hahahahaha. who even knew little elder minetto could.

SO this week i have seen pure miracles and the Lord just picking up the slack for us. So first.

Miracle of the conversion. So one of our investigators that is getting baptized this week went to church and surprised us like crazy. So he had earrings and the first time at church he just wore jeans and a shirt and we dont really expect a huge change for a while. even after the baptism until they start getting a hang of things. But he showed up this sunday with a white shirt and tie and nice pants and shoes….and he took out his earring. And we didnt even tell him to do any of that……That is when we know that the Spirit is converting them and they are letting the Gospel change there lives. Strong testimony builder.

Also yesterday..on sunday as i walked into the sacrament mtg, one of the counselors asked mi to give a talk because no one showed up. so i threw some things down on my agenda and right before i went up i got a sweet surprise. they called one of my converts….Jaime…..that got baptized the 17th of Oct to give a talk….I was like what…….that is quick. And he got up there and gave a talk and on saturday he went to the Temple with the ward and he gave a STRONG testimony on how he loved the temple and felt the Spirit soooo strong there. it was something else to see and hear a convert share his testimony and watch how the Lord is shaping him.

Jaime along with Leonardo who also got baptized on 17th of Oct and Oscar who got baptized on the 7th of Nov…..all……….RECEIVED THE MELCHIZEDEC PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY NIGHT…… i cant even begin to explain what i felt while sitting in on watching 3 of my recent converts and faithful examples receive the Melchizdec priesthood. I have never witnessed that before and here in mexico its hard because the life is hard. But to see my converts do that and take yet another step toward the eternal life just gave me the utmost assurance that there is no where else i need to be and NO GREATER WORK. This is why missionaries are on the mission. its not just to help people get baptized….but for them to, in the end, enter the temple. We need to look in the future and work towards those eternal goals and then the smaller steps like baptism will seem less big to them. Thats what i have been focusing alot on and the mission to, is teaching them ETERNAL LIFE ETERNAL LIFE ETERNAL LIFE, TEMPLE TEMPLE TEMPLE. And usually the people look at baptism like a HUGE step and thats it… But we need to help them look beyond that and just help them understand that its one of the MANY MANY steps that will help them.

Alright. The last one. So we had to get Matiana and Jorgey married so they and their daughter could get baptized this week. And we had to do sooooooooooooo much things. So what i realized while reading a book that i suggest EVERYONE should read is called Believing Chiist. So we had to get a updated copy of Matianas Birth Cirtificate and it was friday and they were gonna get married on saturday. So we know a man named javier in the Registro Civil and he helps us alot but it still takes about a week to get them even with the hook ups. So we went to him (he is not a member) and he said look, this is going to be very very vary hard but came back in like 3 hours and we will see. So we went back and he had got the Head dude of xalapa to just sign a copy of it saying its updated. That is just one thing. We marry people in a different city cause its cheaper and we know also the head guy of there (also not a member). But finally i realized a day later while reading that book is that, We cant ever be perfect and wont….for a long time….and never in this life….but we are asked to try to become perfect because the Lord wants to see the best out of us…even though it will never be enough. That is when , Thanks to the Atonement, Christ comes in and says, you are doing your best and i will make up the rest. That is becoming perfect-in-Christ. In those days trying to get the wedding ready i almost gave up sooooo many times and threw in the towel, but the Lord made up the rest… But we need to do our best even though it wont be enough.

WEll well sorry this was so long but it was a long testimony builder week for mi and to see alot of miracles. I wanted to share with all of you. Thanks for all the love and support.

Love you all long time

Hola familia y amigos

WEll this letter is going to be super short because we had sooooo much to do today and just found a server that was open to write in. But all is well. this week was good. we were supposed to baptize that family of 3 but we couldnt get them married in time cause the husband didnt have foto ID. But this week for sure. And the family from the contact on the bus is doing good. About to go have a noche de hogar with them, They are really excited about the gospel and should be in the water next week. On saturday we were contacting on the street and met this guy who had become really depressed. So we talked
there on the street and we put a baptismal date with him for in 2 weeks and he accepted. cool huh. well the Lord is working hard here with us. love you all.

11/9/2009 – HELLOOOOOOOOOOOO

Hola familia y amigos.

WEll well well. THis week was a bunch of sweetness.

So what is happening now is i get to this point on mondays and the whole semana seemed like a huge blur and i cant remember what even happened. hahahahaha. i think im getting old. and im getting ALOT of GRAY HAIRS. Can someone check that out. i think im dying.
hahahahahahahaa. i think iits pure stress……good stress though.

WEll first. this week we had our zone conference. mi and my comp taught on how to be able to take people to the church. IT went good. we all learned alot. Its always kinda nerve racking to do things like that but i am pretty much used to it.

THe Real high-light this week was we had the baptism of Ocsar. He is a joven that had been going to church since he was little but his dad would never let him get baptized.
But then he completed 18 years and can decide for himself. SO he was super ready and just hopped right on in the water. His mom gave her testimony and said, “I’m so thankful that he is finally getting baptized and will be getting the priesthood, he will be the first in our house to have the priesthood.” really im happy and grateful that we have always had it in our house and that we have had that blessing . its something so important and helps the family sooooo much.

ALso this week we had a great week with new investigators. We had 9 at church this week and they were all great. 2 of those investigators have a really cool story.

SO its a mom and daughter and son. On friday we were on the bus and a bunch of little high school kids got on (gotta love those little children of God) so i fell asleep on
accident. When i woke up the girl next to mi, was just sitting there smiling at mi. So i was like, hey, whats up. and then we started talking. And i asked her if we could go by her house to share a message with her family. She said ya. Her name is Angelica and is 25 studying in the University. She lives with her mom, Yolanda, And her brother, Rolando, who is suffering from acoholisim. So We went the next day and had a really good talk and
they all accepted a baptism date for the 21st of this month. Rolando wasnt able to go to church on sunday but promises for next week. The mom and daughter LOVED church and tonight we have a FHE with them and some members in the ward. TOday we were walking downtown and found the mom Yolanda. WE asked her how her son was and said something interesting, “well ever since that talk he has changed, he came home early and just
stays in the house instead of out with his friends.” then i asked her how she was she said “i have felt soooooo different, especially after church, i have just felt so happy and back to my normal self and i cant wait to go back to church.” This just builds my testimony that the SPIRIT changes the hearts of the people . And that the Gospel brings a happiness to the lives and fills the holes in peoples lives. There is no greater feeling in this world then being obedient and enjoying the blessings that come from that.

Sorry its so short. but gotta run. Im sending a little package home this week with 2 tapes. have fun. dont get toooooo bored listening to my boreing voice. hahahahah. thanks for everything. love you all

Love you all long time

11/2/2009 – Oh Halloween….what

Posted by Minetto Family on Nov 16, 2009 in Uncategorized

Hola famila y amigos.

Well this week went sweet.

first. Halloween kinda exists here. But they do it for like 4 days and they just put up a bunch of virgin mary things everywhere and ya. hahahaha. and everyone eats tamales. So ya. But i forgot about it. again. hahahahahahaa. oooops.

So right now it is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cold. Like crazy cold. I almost cant take it. i sleep with 3 blankets at night and am still cold. i honestly feel like it
should snow soon. I know that its probably not that cold. but i dont know how cold it is but i feel like it is freezing. hahahahaahahahaha. But i will survive. hahahaha

This week was great. SO we are really focused on getting our ward and getting all involved in the work and getting a ward mission plan. We have a new ward mission leader
and he is on fire. Just going crazy and we are loving it. He really has the animo that this ward needs. I have really learned that to have more success you need to work with
the members and use references……before the mission i never understood why the missionaries always asked us for friends we knew that would listen to them, i would always think, just go knock doors and you will find some easily…..but now i do understand. hahahahahaha If we want to have converts stay in the church……..THEY NEED A FRIEND. They are entering a new world and need comfort and help. We are working really hard with a
family of 3 so they can get baptized next week.

Cool experience. So we heard of a kid that had been going to church his whole life with his mom but could never get baptized cause his dad would not let him. So now he just
turned 18 and can do what he wants. So We met with him on saturday in the church but we forgot our keys to the church and so we had the lesson outside on the curb. It was hard, lots of noise. but we put a baptismal date with him for this week and he accepted. Cool huh. hahahahah neat experience.

well all is well. didnt have much time this week. but thanks for all. love you all lots.

Love you all long time
