Whee for the mission – 5/17/2010

Posted by Minetto Family on May 18, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hola familia y amigos.

WEll this one will be longer cause i have a little more time now….helelujah(dont know how to spell that word).

Man this week was just a little blast that was filled with a lot of spiritual expiriences and funny stories. First dad you asked about my b-day….well it was fantastic cause we worked like animals and put some baptisimal dates….i reallly kinda forgot it was my birthday. But my comp didnt. He gave mi this sweet original soccer jersey he had from his home town…..it was sweet cause i had always wanted it. sweet little companion. And all the missionarys in zone class attacked mi and sang happy birthday and took mi out to breakfast and we ate empanadas and gordas and picadas. Soooooooooo dilicoius…if you are struggling to figure out what all that is just ask a mexican. jijijijj. We then went to the offices to drop something off and elder holman suprised mi with some Mrs Fields cookies from costco he bought mi……man i love that kid. Elder Holman has saved my bum so many times now that he has been in the offices, he always helps mi out. Man he i such a good kid….hint hint. jijijijji ahahahaha.

So now on the the realy good stuff of the week. So about 2 weeks ago we found a family a really cool way. Here is the story. So mi and my comp were walking down the street and my comp all the sudden says to mi “we need to go down this street” i said “ok lets go.” We can never deny a impression of the spirit…or atleast we shouldnt. As we were walking I then felt that we should knock a certain door. So we did and it was every missionarys dream…the Lady came and said “its about time you guys came, i have been wondering if you guys were ever going to pass by, would you like to come in.” we both jumped and said yes. So we taught her and her family and her daughter got baptized this week. Zuleni se llama. The mom couldnt because she is not married and her husband doesnt want to get married. But she said if she could get baptized right now she would jump right in there. It was a service super special and a expirience i will never forget. In that vary moment of finding her and her family i really felt a piece of the Divine Companionship and after that momnet our companionship has been strengthened. I realized that as a relationship, whether is be a companionship or marriage or as friends, has a spiritual experience the relationship is strengthened and a new type of eternal progression starts. Its something i have been doing with all my comps and has really helped mi….the spiritual experiences and something i will continue to do.

This week we found some super good people. This lady in the ward who isnt too fond of gringos and never gives references gave us one this week. And its a daughter and mom. They are golden and tonight we will have a noche de hogar with them. That gave mi a a testimony about service. Because about 2 weeks ago we had not so good of a day in church and i was a little bummed. then i heard this same sister say in the background “ah man i have a flat tire, what do i do now?” I felt the impresison to help ( even though i did it a little unplesantally) She was surprised. As mi and my comp walked out to the car i whispered to my comp “hey you know how to change a tire right”, he said “nope, i thought you did cause you offered to change it with such enthusiam and certinty in your voice.” And we both laughed and well…changed the tire. (where is AAA when you need it) jijijijijij. spoiled gringos. jijijij. But after that service mi and my comp felt better and our burdens of the church were lifted and someones life was blessed. And she was the one that gave the reference of the mom and daughter. That just reinforces and strenghthens my testimony of the scripture that says “he who looses his life for my cause, will find his own” (tried to translate it, bad translation)! We come on the mission and to this life to serve….and to not be served.

Well that you all for everything. i love you all and hope you enjoy the life without mi cause im staying in mexico FOREVER…jijijijij. i wish but i know mom wouldnt be to happy.

Love you all long time
Elder Minetto

Good Stuff – 5/10/2010

Posted by Minetto Family on May 11, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hola familia y amigos.

WEll this is going to be short letter cause we all talked yesterday. It was really good to talk to you all yesterday and sounds like you all are doing just fine. I cant belive my nephews talk…….that is caaaarazy. Roman has a high little voice…jijijjiji. Man that is funny and crazy. But glad to hear everyone is doing fantastic.

Well this week was great. WE had some really good expiriences and saw alot of the blessings come from work in previous weeks. SO funny thing. On sunday i had my first experience with washing a dog. We promised some of our investigators that we would wash their dog. so we did. It was funny and they are getting baptized this week. some of the family. Thye are a really good family but the dad doesnt like us and doesnt want to get married to his wife so she can get baptized….so the g-ma and the little daughter are going to get baptized. But they are vary great people and going to progress alot in the church.

So some crazy news. THis next week are the changes and im staying but there are going to be some changes in the zone. We are going to loose a companionship in the zone. Well this area is right next to ours so presidente is going to give it to us…….im soooooooooooooo stinkin excited because i worked in that area for 1 day when i first got her and i could feel something in that area. I really felt that there are sooo many choosen people in that area and so im super super super excited to go there and just rock it up and have a blast.

Well thank you all for your love and support and for helping so much and the Work of the Lord. the church is true.

Love you all long time

Awesome weekness – 4/19/2010

Posted by Minetto Family on Apr 26, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hola familia y amigos.

Well this was a great rollercoster of fun.

So we started off the week and i went to do divisiones with a district leader to helpo them out with a couple of things and it was a great expirence. Before i started them i said a personal prayer asking for guidence and help on what to do in this area and ho w i should help them and what i could do help them have more success. The divisions were for 2 days. And it was great. By the end we had seen ALOT of miricles and seen how the Lord has pepared alot of peoplein that area to be baptized. And we were able to accomplish that and now they are on a roll and baptizing. It was a great learning expirience for mi and i really felt the Lord working with us as we worked to build up this certin area.

THis week we had the opportunity to help a hno get baptized. His name is miguel. He is the boyfriend of the relif sociedy pres ( i have no idea how to spell that, i think ifçts half spanish and ingles ooops). But we first met him about 3 weeks ago when he went with his girlfirend to a baptismal sercive we had. After we tried to invite him to get baptized and he said¨i want to learn more¨i felt that we just needed to let him go and come back to him. Then that week he went to church and then to another baptismal service we had. After we talked with him and had a super spiritual leasson and the spirit was there soooo strong. Then we invited him to get baptized that next week…..and he thought and thoiught and thought and said yes. He is a great guy and will progress alot in the chruch because of his humbleness and willingness to learn and act upon the prompting of the spirit. He even siad that he has alot of doubts about the chuch and what not, but decided to get baptized cause he felt it was the right thing to do and he knew he needed to do it. What an example for all.

Well the week was honestally a little slow and i hadnt had a slow week in a loooong time. So that was hubling also. The Lord put mi in my place. jijij. But on saturday my comp and i were talking and realized we had no one to take to church and really had no one to baptize this week. So on saturday night we said a couple different prayers asking God to bless us with miricles and baptisims. On sunday we went to church and while there, new investigator after new investigator just kept coming in the doors with members that had before, never participad in the missionary work. We ended church with 6 in the church and 2 children of God now entering the waters of baptisim this week. I learned that if we are doing what we should be and really worthy, then, as promised to us by the Lord, He has to bless us. We are entilted to bringing down the powers of the heavens to see those miricles. It was really an eye opener for mi and something that we all need to do alot more as missionaries and members of the church.

really quick. so this week i had to give a little talk in a stake young womans fireside. The presidente couldnt go so he sent mi. jijijijijijijij. ………… but now…………girls scare the junk out of mi. So i did an object leasson. i bought a carton of icecream and told the girls that i had something super dilicoius. And i asked for a voulunteer. A girl raised her hand and came up and i showed her the icecream and gave her a spoon and said,….go for it….eat up. Then asked how it tasted and stuff. Then i showed her that i had 4 more spoons. I asked her what is she going to do with those spoons. So she gladly invited her friends up and they all ate icecream on the stand. The relation to the Gospel with that was simple. That we all have something so beautiful and somehting that makes us tan happy that we need to share it and invite others to partake of it…as Lehi did. That is something that has helped mi realize how important it is to share the gospel. Thanks for all you do and for all the suipport. I hope you can all share the gospel with everyone.wheeeeeeen its fun.

Love you all long time

Oh the Blessings – 4/12/2010

Posted by Minetto Family on Apr 26, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hola familia y amigos.

Well this weeek was great. I wont be too long but it will be short and sweet.

So i just want to share a couple of spiritual expirences that i had this past week.

The Lord has been blessing mi and my comp emmensally and i couldnt be so humbled to be seeing these miricles . THis past week we started a new change…….no its called transfer. hahaha. totally thinking in spanish. my bad. And i have a little tradition mwith my zones that whenever we start a new transfer well we get the whole zone together on wed, to have a ZONE CLASS. cause usually it is district class and each person is in there own church. But we got all 24 missionaries in the zone to meet up and we have a ^PEP-TALK^. But its not like a yelling a sscreaming one, but a spiritual one to get everyone pumped to go baptize. So a couple days before my comp and i begin to pray about what topics and we choose those topics and assign them to the district leaders and they give a little PEP-TALK about 5 min long. short, sweet, but powerful. And i had a really neat expirence that humbled mi and made my testimony grow. Well i was the last to go and i was tlaking about having spiritual expiriences everyday. As i was talking i was able to say some things that were not planned and i knew where directed by the spirit. It ended and we all left super excited to baptize and all. That night one of the sister missionaries called mi and said ^elder minetto, what you said today in the pep-talk touched mi and has changed my mission^ . At that point the spirit testified to mi that what i had said under the guidence of the spirit was for that sister. I gained a strong testimony of how we will be guieded to help people by the gueidence and direction of the spirit if we jsut seek it. Every day have spiritual expiriences and God loves us so much that He gives them to us, but it is us, that lack to recognize them and thank him for them. A way that i have grown to love to recognize and rememeber my spiritual expiriences is through a journel. Alot of missionarys dont write in there journel and they think i m crazy for writing iin it everyday, but its a way that i show Heavanly Father im grateful for these expiriences He gives mi. I invite you all to do the same.

Also we had the zone leader counsel on thurs. There where new faces and one 2 of those new faces are from my generation. And they are both really good friends. Elder Menet and Elder Molloer. We are now 9 form my generation as zone leaders. In that counsel i learned alot. It was super fun but on of the biggest things i learned was about a new little ^commandment^ we have in the mission . I think it always was one, but there aer still some missionaries not doing it. Its about putting a baptismal date in the first leasson. In Preach my Gospel on page 40….well in spanish. Its the last page of the leasson 1. In the last box. It says that we need to invite people to get baptized in this leasson. And we talked about how it will help us and that we will beable to know who is ready and who is really willing to progress.

This week we had the opportunity to baptize the mom of a recient convert. Veronica. Her son Esau got baptized 3 weeks ago and his mom just got baptized on saturday. it was a great service and alot fo her friends were there to share there testimony and congragulate them. She is super willing and super humble and really likes to learn and that will help her alot progress and help her kid also stay strong in the church.

Really the Lord is blessing the work here and all is moving forward athe work is elevating to a level never seen before and this will continue as long as we stay humble and trust in the Lord. Thanks for everything and i lava lava you all lotsy.

Love you all long time

Elder Minettto

General conference baptisimness. hooooorawwwww – 4/5/2010

Posted by Minetto Family on Apr 6, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hola familia y amigos

WEll this week rocked in sooo many ways…..man its hot here. but im getting skinner i think. shedding the xalapa pounds. jijjijijiji

THanks mommy for the packege. Way to be on the Beef Jerkey…it was delicious. Good thing you sent it. i have been eating beef jerky for the last week as my breakfast and sometimes dinner. hahaha. it was sooooooo good. and tell the primary i loved the letters and am going to hang them on my little fridge.jijijijijijijijijijij

SO this week we were not able to confirm anyone nevertheless we still baptized cause when a investigator is ready…they are ready and need to get baptized. So last week i talked alittle about on how we found a family. WEll this gave mi quite the testimony on how we need to foolow the spirit and talk with all. As we went to contact a reference they were not home. As we left the house and tturned the corner i felt we needed to go back. As i turned around i saw a man in a wheelchair outside. We went up and started to talk with him . Turns out he was a member and his daughter was not and niether his grandchildren. Well the mom adriana was not able to get baptized due to issues about marrige but the 2 girls did get baptized…..Sabina e Itzel. So they got baptized on thurs cause they were going to go out of town on the weekend. But it was a great baptisimal service. Every thing went good and i learned a huge leasson from that expirience about foolowing the spirit always. Dad always says in his letters ¨keep following the spirit¨ and that is really the trick to having success.

Also we had a youth go to the conferrence. And we had just met him there in the conference. His mom went to conferrnce on saturday and we took him on sunday. He had to leave early so i escorted him to the door. Before he left i said ¨hey i want to show you one of the most important parts of the church¨ and took him to the baptisimal font. As we were there i realized the we were in the Lords house and its a dedicated building and the spirit is always there and there would be no better place to invite someone to get baptized. So we tought him vary vary briefly about why its necesarry a baptisim and then invited him to be baptized next week with his mom. He gladly accepted and i knew that the spirit was there to testify that this is the true church.

Also just yesterday i had an interesting expirience. SO after the sunday morning session we met a family right before the sunday afternoon session and we took them to the conference. After the conference we didnt get the chance to talk with them so we went to there house that night. As we tought them they had ALOT of questions and it almost sounded like she wanted to contend. But we continued to teach and we got to the end. During the leasson i could feel that the spirit was there at times and that it was simple that they could have felt it(if they opened there hearts). At the end of the leasson i was debating on putting a return appt. So i did what i had been taught and i did a little expiriement. I testified to her about the truthfulness of our messege and i felt the spirit testify to her through mi the truthfulness of it. But she decided to ¨hearden¨her heart and right then i knew that she was not a choosen one. It was heard to leave them and not go back but i knew that it was what the Lord wanted. As we walked from the appt my comp asked ¨elder minetto, do you think that they could progress¨. i said ¨yes, but not right now, its not there time¨. I realized that they had varias chances to accept the messege and feel the spirit and open there hearts….but they didnt and so we CANT teach them. We are on the Lords errand and He wants us to find those who will listen.

So the general conference rocked of course and i cant even begain to tell you all how much i learned and how much the spirit can teach one in those hours of listening to Gods instruments. One of the talks i really liked was from pres. eyring. It really hit mi when he was tlaking about how we dont have time to rest. that is true and we expecially dont have time to rest. work work work. weheeeeeeee. well thanks for all . i love you all lots.

Love you all long time

Im extending my mission….wheeeeeeeee more goodness – 3/29/2010

Posted by Minetto Family on Mar 30, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hola familia y amigos

Well yep. So this week when i went into the offices on tues pres. hansen was there and i talked to him and i told him that i wanted to extend my mission…..yeeeeehhhhhhhh. oh ya. here is the story. So 2 sundays ago i got a call from the presidente at like 7:30am and we just started talking. So in the change when i would be going home is when they are doing the changes in the mission. And so he is asking about 7ish elders from my generation if they would like to extend there mission for 1 month…….it wouldnt be for even a whole change(6weeks-) but just 30 days, thats the longest you can do it. So he told mi to talk with the family and see what they think and just to think about it. But about 3 weeks before i got the call from pres i had been thinking about extending my mission but i had never talked to pres about it and i asked the presidentes secretary and he told mi that presidente wouldnt do it causeit would just be difficult for him and they really dont do it anymore. And that is what presidente told mi, that he really doesnt do it. but i talked to him and i told him i would love to extend my mission and he was like ¨lets do it elder minetto¨ . i cant even explai how stinkin excited i am to extendmy mission cause i love it here and didnt want to leave( no offense mommy and daddy). jijijjijj. But it just gives mi the opportunity to do more of the -Lords will and help establish the kingdom of God here on te earth.

-this week we found some sweet poeple. We have an investigator that is money and is gettting baptized this week, named marili. Her and her family lived in Gringo-Landia for a couple of years and so she speaks ingles pretty well. But she wanted us to start to teach her sister. so we did and when we got there her sister was so against the mormans and gettting baptized casue she said she was already baptized…..but by the end of the leasson the spirit had touched her in such a way that she is now getting this week with her sister and she even brought a friend to church that is getting baptized this week to. Its amazing how the Spirit will just change the poeples heart so quickly.

This week we also found a family that is gettting baptized this week. So we went to find a reference and they were not there and the next door neighbor is always outside in his wheelchair just enjoying the sun( reminds mi of gpa, loving the sun). We had always said hi but never talked to him. But this time was diffrerent and i felt prompeted to go tlak to him . Turns out he is a member and the only one of his whole family. But then his daughter came out of the house with her kids and they arent members. We told her that her dad was a member and she was alike ¨what….your mormon…uh oh¨ . But we taught them the 1st leasson and the spirit was super strong and now her and her daughters are getting baptized this week. I remeber dad would always write mi ¨just listen to the spirit¨ and that is all we have to do to beable to find our brothers and sisters that are waiting to hear this messege of joy. Its humblking to beable to be an instrument in His hands.

We had 2 baptisms of Irma and Esau. Esau is a little kid of 9 yrs. He is super great and almost didnt get baptized because his mom had alot of doubts( mom is not a member). But we cleared up those doubts and…she is getting baptized the 10th of april. Esau is putting a realy good example for his mom.

Irma is somehting else. She is one of the most breve and noble ladys i have ever met. SO she listend to the missionarys before but she never liked it. But mi and my comp went and there was something else different about her my comp would always say, he always said that she had changed and that it was her time. But shewas the only one from her family that would listen to us….the rest of them were catholic. And they would always make fun of her for going to church and try to convince her not to go. even her own husband. On the day of her baptiism we were there and she came in the the church alone and crying….so i started talking to her and she said that her whole family was trying to convince her to not go to her baptisim and her husband would not go with her. She felt bad cause none of her family went with her but she realized that she was dong something right and she knew it and she knew that God knew it. She has such a big testimony of the church and is soooooo awesome. The guts she had to tell her family that she was going to get baptized with them or without is something we can all learn from. She is a miricle and a example to all of us.

Well that is all. the zone is doing great and we saw oosooooo many miricles this month as a zone and will continue to see them if we relay on the Lord more. As a zone we were able to reach our goal off¡ 40 and we got 2 more. so we baptized 42 this month. The blessings are just flowing. Thank yo uall for all. the letters and everything.

Love you all long time

Elder Minettto

Im a tamatoooooooo – 3/22/2010

Posted by Minetto Family on Mar 23, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hola familia y amigos.

This week was a heck of a good time. So on wednesday we ahd a zone conference with another zone and i got to conduct. IT is always fun to conduct and all. We learned alot about knowledge and about how to find the escogidos. Alot fo the stuff that we learned in the counsol with pres. johnson. It was way good. And it was here in vercruz so i and my comp were in charge of getting alll ready……and so for the lunch…..we ate SUBWAY. Yes oh yes we did. everyone Loved it and we had cheese cake form costco. Hahahaha. we went all out . So neil said he craved chili…..well a funny thing is that i cant eat anything with out 2 things. 1. chili and 2. tortillas(but of maiz…corn). I put salsa on everything…pizza….speghetti….you name it…i put it on it.

This week we got the opportunity to have 2 baptisims. on e of a joven named Vicente. And a kid named Emmanuel. Vicente is a miricle. This is the story. So when i got here we went around and visited alot fo the recient converts and we visited a family that my comp and his last comp baptized. And i asked my comp if all of the members of the family were members. he said no……vicente was not. And he said he didnt want anything to do with the church and always hid when they went over and just didnt want anything. I felt the impression to find him and teach him . So we finally fond him home one day and went there and tought him the Plan of Salvation. And we a put a baptisimal date for the next week. And he accepted. As we walked out of the visit. My comp said ¨he has changed soooooo much and i can even believe it¨ . His own familiy couldnt even belieive it and he got baptized this las week. THe funny thing was that we had no water in our church…so we were going to go to the beach nd baptize but it was kinda dark so we ran to another church and just jumped in on there baptisim service. hahahaha. but they go tbaptized….that is what is important.

So the zone is having miricles in it. i have never seen anything like it here. So as a zone we are at 30 baptisims for this month and this week we have 17 baptisims planned as a zone. I was talking to the asistantes and the they told mi how this zone has never seen anything like this.. I can really see the Lord working with us a s missionaries so that we can be untied and work as a team and do the Lords work togehter. I can not begin to tell you guys how much that revelation is real and that if we just look for it and it is a true desire of our heart…it will be reveled to us. SOrry i didnt have that much time this week. but miricles are happening and they are testimnoies to i every day that this is the true and only church and the only way we can make it back to the presence of God.

But i love you all and thankyou all for all the love and support. Let mi know what happens in sac. mtg and how the other misionaries are doing.

Love yo uall long time
Elder Minetto

p.s. The title is because i got fried by the sun today . WE played soccer and football on the beach as a zone.

Ohhhhhh the miricles – 3/15/2010

Posted by Minetto Family on Mar 16, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hola familia y amigos

Well this week was something else. First. Mommy and daddy I took money out fo the card . 400 pesos to buy the neew bible that came out….i had to because the mission was getting on mi because I ws like the only one who hadn’t bought it yet. It cost mi 355 pesos. I hope that’s alright….if not I will tell God I will buy his bible later…jijijij. Nah just kidding. Also about that homecoming talk with katelin…..i get home july 1st. around there and she gets home in agosto. Do I have to wait that long, If I do that’s alright, I would just prefer to do it right when I get back… but we have got some time and I will do whatever. Hahaha.

So my comp is the man. We are having soooo much fun. We do luchas(wrestling) in the nights when we get bored. But he reminds mi of my tongan friends back home. Like karl and mau. He acts just like one and does everything the same. Its so weird but cool. And we are just killing it and having a blast.

So this week we really focused on finding a lot of new people to teach and just get the tank full of peoole to teach. And this week the Lord blessed us with 16 new people to teach. They are pretty good but we have already dropped a lot of them because we are now just teaching and trying to find the people who are READY to hear and accept the gospel. And that is why it is sooooo important to testify, cause the ready people will hear the voice and not harden there hearts. So in our contacts we just do them really short. We just say “we are representatives and give a short short short testimony and invite them to listen.”  And in that moment they will have heard the voice and they choose then.

Had a really cool experience with something like that with a lady named Irma. She is an lady about your age mom and actually reminds mi A LOT about you. And she really had the desire to learn and stuff and my comp and his last comp were teaching he for awhile…but they dropped her cause she didn’t progress. But we went back and in the 1st visit put a baptisim date with her and she kind of accepted it. So we did the 2nd visit and she told us she still didn’t really want to get baptized this 27th of march cause it was soon. So normally we would have dropped her cause it wasn’t her time. But I felt that there was something else. The rest of her family doesn’t want anything with the church. Just her. So we went back for the 3rd visit. But that morning I was studying and I got done and said my closing prayer and got the super strong impression to go teach Irma about the temples….something we don’t ever teach…really never in the 3rd lesson. So I verified with the Lord to make sure that was correct revelation for Irma and felt yes. So I told my comp and he just looked at mi weird and said…ok if you say so. So we went. The first thing she said to us was that she didn’t want to get baptized on the 27th. So I testified to her that if she just listened to our message and after still felt the same…we would then change it. SO we had one of the most spiritual lessons ever. WE helped her understand that there she can be married for all eternity and she could be sealed to her family forever, and there is no other place on earth where that can happen.  And the spirit touched her in such a way that she completely changed and was like I want to get baptized the 27th. She went to church and loved it. If we just seek the revelation for each one of our investigators and use one of our strongest tools, testimony, the people will be CONVERTED instead of CONVINCCED, and that is what the Lord wants.

Well the zone is doing awesome. My zone and elder carters zone are tied up so far for the month and both our zones have the same baptisim goal for this week of 12. Hahaha. We are having a blast. The zone is really growing and beginning to be one big family and work as a team. And I know that is how success is achieved.

Well I love the mission and really thank you all for the love and support and hope that you all can share the gospel and give the people what they are looking for but they just don’t know where to find it. And we have it.

Love you all long time
